Two Hot Mamas' Creamy Cilantro Salsa Dip
Local Austin company Two Hot Mamas was founded by Genevieve Thompson
and Paula Bryant, two ladies with a penchant for hot spicy food.
The two women, friends from their church in Lakeway, discovered
that each had an interest in salsa when Thompson made Bryant homemade
breakfast tacos with chile verde salsa for her birthday one year.
Bryant told Thompson that she had a great red salsa recipe, and
from that moment, a dynamic duo was born. At home, the two women
began experimenting with their salsas (they learned how to home-can
online) and developed several varieties including a creamy cilantro
dip, chile verde (a tomatillo blend), salsa roja (a chunky, tomato-based
blend) and their bestseller, Mambo Combo (a combination of the verde
and roja salsas).
But back to their creamy cilantro dip (because we can't tear ourselves
away from it). A healthy dose of cilantro and serrano peppers infuses
the sour-cream based salsa with just the right kick. Eat it with
tortilla chips. Drizzle it on celery or carrot sticks. Try it on
poultry, pasta or seafood. The beauty of this spread is that it
is delectable with almost anything. Unlike many salsas, the dips
heat will not burn a layer off your tongue. Dont take our
word for it. Two Hot Mamas products placed in several categories
at this years Austin Chronicles Hot Sauce Contest. The
creamy cilantro salsa dip won second prize in the Special
Variety category. So if youre looking for a unique salsa
to dazzle your friends and wow your family, creamy cilantro is a
sure bet. Its perfect snack at a Super Bowl party, too! Youll
go from dipping to guzzling before you know it. Available at Central
Market.
